Djanet

Located in southeastern Algeria, Djanet is an oasis town situated at the foot of the Tassili n’Ajjer mountain range. Inhabited by the Kel Ajjer Tuareg people, the city is a center for traditional Saharan culture and heritage. Its geography is characterized by dramatic palm groves set against a backdrop of vast desert landscapes, including the Erg Admer dunes and the stone forests of the Tadrart Rouge. It serves as an essential base for expeditions into the surrounding UNESCO-listed plateaus, which contain some of the world’s most significant concentrations of prehistoric rock art.
